This past weekend, we headed down to Chesapeake to visit Paul's brother Mitch and his family. It was a short trip, but we enjoyed our time with them and look forward to many more weekend trips just like that one.
Anyway, we decided to head home a bit earlier than originally planned when we heard that our area was expecting to get between 6-10 inches of snow over the late afternoon and evening. We left at noon hoping to be safe in our cozy home for the night when the snow hit. Well, long story short, what should've been a four hour trip turned into a nine hour one and we were driving in snow for much of it.
When we finally got home, we immediately put the girls down and gazed out the window as the snow came down. When we woke up the next morning, there was a foot of snow on the ground. Paul was given the day off and we were so excited to go outside and play!
Once Izzy was down for her morning nap, Paul, Eva and I bundled up and headed out. It was still snowing and the wind was blowing pretty hard but we were determined to enjoy it while it was fresh and powdery. It was a good idea, in theory, but in reality it didn't really turn out to be the picture book moment we planned. It was bitter cold and the wind burned our faces to the point of tears. The snow was powdery and when we tried to make snowballs, it just crumbled in our grip. Eva was excited until the first "snowball" she tried to launch at me ended up right back in her face.
But, we still managed to enjoy ourselves and even got a few cute photos out of it!

I can't even tell you how envious I am. I managed to get ONE snow day out of this winter and it wasn't even in NLR. It was in Fayetteville. And I'm currently sitting here in shorts and a t-shirt as it is March 6 and 75 degrees outside. Drat the global warming.
