I used to think Eva was an introvert. She's not. She's smart is what she is. She knows that if she can put on her sweet, innocent "shy face" that people will try even harder to win her over. I mean let's face it, no one can stand the thought of a child not warming up to them.
Eva knows this. She's smells it from a mile off. She works it to her advantage.
She doesn't do this to everyone. Ironically, the people who show no initial interest in Eva are the people that Eva immediately warms up to. Why? Because she knows they won't try for her attention. She knows that all of her 3 year old wiles would be lost on them. She gives up before trying and immediately invites them to her tea party.
Now if someone comes on strong, she milks it. She hides her face, pretends to be afraid, stands behind her father. They try harder not wanting this innocent, shy child to think badly of them. She gives them a little hope by flashing a forced smile. They beam and continue to coax and prod and at the point when they are about to completely give up, she grants them what they've been working so hard for...her friendship...
and an invite to her tea party.
